About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) Manager to lead commercial strategy and execution for solar and BESS projects across Japan. As part of a high-performing team at a leading renewable energy developer, you will play a critical role in securing long-term revenue contracts, navigating regulatory frameworks, and building strategic partnerships with utilities, corporates, and government entities.
Key Responsibilities
PPA Strategy & Execution
- Lead the structuring, negotiation, and execution of PPAs for utility-scale solar and BESS projects.
- Develop pricing models and commercial strategies aligned with market trends and project economics.
- Manage relationships with off-takers including utilities, corporates, and aggregators.
Market & Policy Intelligence
- Monitor regulatory developments, market dynamics, and auction frameworks (e.g., METI, OCCTO).
- Provide insights on energy market trends, including wholesale pricing, grid constraints, and policy changes.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with internal teams (development, legal, finance, engineering) to align PPA terms with project requirements.
- Represent the company in industry forums, working groups, and government consultations.
Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks associated with PPAs, including curtailment, credit, and regulatory risks.
- Support due diligence for project financing and investment decisions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in energy markets, with a strong track record in PPA negotiation and execution.
- Deep understanding of Japan's energy landscape, including solar, BESS, and grid operations.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Fluency in Japanese and English is required.
