Practice Lead - Water Resources
A nationally recognized civil engineering firm is seeking a Practice Lead to oversee and grow its Water Resources practice from the Houston office. This is a high-visibility leadership role for a seasoned professional with deep technical expertise, a strong business development track record, and a passion for mentoring and strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical oversight and strategic direction for a portfolio of water resources projects, including flood mitigation, stormwater management, watershed planning, and H&H modeling
Lead business development efforts across Texas and the Gulf Coast, including client relationship management, pursuit strategy, and proposal development
Serve as a trusted advisor to public and private sector clients, offering innovative, cost-effective solutions to complex water challenges
Collaborate with firm leadership on growth initiatives, staffing plans, and market positioning
Mentor and develop a high-performing team of engineers and project managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence
Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and professional associations
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas required
Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in water resources engineering, including project delivery, team leadership, and business development
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage large-scale infrastructure projects
Strong communication, leadership, and strategic planning skills
Deep technical expertise in hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater systems, and regulatory compliance
