Presales Engineering Manager
The Presales Engineering Manager is instrumental in shaping project direction and proposal strategies from the very first customer discussions. This role requires a strong technical foundation across several engineering disciplines including architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, control/monitoring systems, and fire protection to develop well‑rounded, technically sound solutions. Success in this position also relies on effective leadership and team management, along with the ability to interpret customer needs and proposal details from both a technical and business standpoint.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop designs for modular, hybrid, and power‑room data center projects during the proposal phase.
- Review tender documents and translate customer requirements from the sales team into technical solutions.
- Coordinate work across all engineering disciplines and ensure alignment with applicable standards and regulations.
- Manage technical communication with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Oversee the creation and quality of technical documentation; review work produced by team members.
- Provide technical support during sales activities and incorporate customer feedback into proposed designs.
- Mentor engineers, support career development, and oversee performance goals.
- Improve engineering tools, processes, and procedures; introduce creative, practical solutions.
- Conduct performance evaluations and set annual objectives.
- Travel internationally as needed for customer meetings, seminars, and training.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in engineering.
- 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of data center design, systems, and infrastructure architecture.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to translate concepts into engineered designs.
- Experience presenting to clients and producing specification documents.
- Strong leadership, organization, and time‑management abilities.
- Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and AutoCAD.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills; creative and detail‑oriented mindset.
- Fluent in English.
- Must be able to travel approximately 10%.
