About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Principal Biologist to join our leadership team as a Partner within the organization. This is a fully remote position, ideally suited for a California-based professional with deep expertise in environmental consulting and natural resources management.
As a key member of our strategic leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Natural Resources Practice, driving business development, and leading complex, high-impact projects across California. You will work closely with the CFO and Business Group Leaders to align environmental services with broader organizational goals and growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a Partner and strategic leader within the firm, contributing to long-term vision and growth.
- Lead the development and expansion of the Natural Resources team, including mentoring junior staff and building technical capabilities.
- Manage projects from cradle-to-grave, including proposal development, client engagement, budgeting, execution, and close-out.
- Provide technical leadership on regulatory compliance, including:
- Section 401/404 of the Clean Water Act (CWA)
- Endangered Species Act (ESA)
- California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)
- National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships in the land use, transportation, and infrastructure sectors.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on strategic business development, marketing, and operational planning.
- Ensure high-quality deliverables and regulatory compliance across all project phases.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental consulting with a focus on natural resources.
- Proven track record of project generation, leadership, and management in California.
- Deep understanding of federal and state environmental regulations.
- Strong background in land use, transportation, and infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor staff.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a partner-level or executive leadership role.
- Existing client relationships and a strong professional network in California.
- Experience with remote team management and digital collaboration tools.
