Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Senior Principal Civil Engineer to lead complex infrastructure and land development projects from concept through completion. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise, leadership acumen, and a passion for mentoring teams and delivering innovative, sustainable engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership
- Lead the planning, design, and execution of large-scale civil engineering projects including transportation, water resources, site development, and municipal infrastructure.
- Provide expert-level guidance on civil engineering principles, codes, and standards.
- Oversee the preparation and review of engineering reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Ensure quality assurance and control across all project phases.
Project Management
- Serve as the technical lead and project manager on high-profile projects.
- Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Identify and mitigate project risks and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Client & Business Development
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships.
- Support business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, preparing proposals, and participating in interviews and presentations.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and public meetings.
Team Development & Mentorship
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Promote continuous learning and professional development.
Qualifications:
Education & Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required; additional certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED) are a plus.
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of progressive civil engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing complex, multidisciplinary projects.
- Experience with public and private sector clients.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in civil engineering software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, HEC-RAS, SWMM, and GIS tools.
- Strong understanding of local, state, and federal regulations and permitting processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
