Senior HVAC Controls Technician
Key Responsibilities
Controls Installation & Commissioning
- Lead installation and startup of HVAC controls systems including controllers, panels, sensors, actuators, and networks
- Execute and oversee commissioning activities such as point‑to‑point checkout, I/O verification, loop tuning, and sequence validation
- Support startup of HVAC equipment including AHUs, RTUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, pumps, and associated systems
Programming & System Optimization
- Perform controller programming, logic modifications, and system tuning to meet design intent and operational requirements
- Develop, modify, and standardize operator graphics, alarms, and trends
- Optimize control strategies to improve energy efficiency, stability, and system reliability
Troubleshooting & Advanced Diagnostics
- Diagnose and resolve complex controls, network, communication, and software issues
- Perform root‑cause analysis on system faults and recurring issues
- Support service calls, warranty work, and system upgrades
Technical Leadership & Mentorship
- Serve as a field technical resource for junior technicians and installers
- Provide guidance on best practices, safety, and troubleshooting techniques
- Collaborate with project engineers and managers to resolve technical challenges
Customer & Project Support
- Interface directly with customers, facility teams, and other trades
- Support project meetings, site walks, and coordination efforts
- Ensure work is completed to quality, schedule, and customer satisfaction standards
Safety, Quality & Documentation
- Follow company and site safety policies, including lockout/tagout procedures
- Maintain accurate commissioning checklists, service reports, redlines, and as‑built documentation
- Ensure systems comply with codes, standards, and company engineering guidelines
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands‑on experience as an HVAC controls or building automation technician
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and control strategies
- Proven experience with DDC systems and open protocols (BACnet/IP, MS/TP, Modbus)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, and sequences of operation
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally/regional as needed
