Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Structural Engineer to lead and manage complex structural engineering projects. This role requires deep technical expertise, strategic leadership, and a collaborative mindset to guide multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead structural design and analysis for buildings, bridges, and infrastructure.
  • Manage projects from concept through construction administration.
  • Perform advanced calculations and modeling using tools like SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, and Revit.
  • Review and stamp engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, contractors, and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with local codes, standards (IBC, ACI, AISC), and safety regulations.
  • Conduct site inspections and provide technical guidance during construction.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal training programs.
  • Support business development through proposal writing and client presentations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Illinois; SE license preferred.
  • 20-30 years of progressive experience in structural engineering.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale projects.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with Chicago building codes and permitting processes.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with restoration, seismic retrofitting, and sustainable design.
  • Knowledge of BIM workflows and integration.
  • Client-facing experience and ability to manage stakeholder expectations.
