Senior Civil/Structural Engineer - Substation Design
Location: St. Louis, MO (Hybrid)
A leading engineering firm is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to support high-voltage substation projects. This role involves structural design of steel and concrete components, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and mentoring junior staff. Hybrid work flexibility is available for candidates within commuting distance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design substation structures and foundations (steel and concrete)
- Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates
- Perform structural calculations and QA/QC reviews
- Coordinate with internal teams across disciplines
- Support proposals, project schedules, and client standards
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
- 8+ years of structural engineering experience
- Passed FE exam; PE license preferred or ability to obtain
- Proficient in structural analysis and design tools (e.g., RISA, STAAD, LPile)
- Strong communication, organizational, and mentoring skills
- Familiarity with seismic design and foundation engineering
Nice to Have:
- 10+ years of experience
- Experience with MathCAD and multi-state licensure
- Ability to manage multiple projects and budgets
