A leading engineering consultancy with a strong presence in Australia is seeking a Senior to Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their Sydney-based team. This is a key role for an experienced professional looking to contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects across New South Wales and beyond. About the Role
You will play a central role in delivering technically robust geotechnical solutions across a wide range of industries and project types. The successful candidate will bring a deep understanding of Sydney's geological conditions and a passion for mentoring and technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead geotechnical investigations, analysis, and design for complex and varied projects.
- Oversee the preparation of geotechnical reports, design documentation, and construction support.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and interface with clients, contractors, and regulators.
- Support business development through proposal writing and client engagement.
- Contribute to strategic planning and innovation in geotechnical practice.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master's or PhD preferred).
- 8+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, ideally within the Sydney or NSW market.
- Strong technical background in ground investigations, foundation design, and ground improvement.
- Familiarity with local ground conditions, regulatory frameworks, and construction practices.
- Chartered status (CPEng or equivalent) or working towards it.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Desirable Experience
- Experience across multiple sectors such as transport, energy, buildings, water, or environmental infrastructure.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, gINT, or similar.
- Exposure to offshore or nearshore geotechnical work is a plus.
