Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in traffic engineering and/or traffic planning
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) license is highly preferred
- Road Safety Professional (RSP) is a plus
- Experience delivering traffic and transportation projects for private sector clients, such as FDOT, and other counties and municipalities
- Strong understanding of traffic and transportation engineering principles and best practices
- Experience in planning, coordinating, and executing multiple projects concurrently
- Clear understanding of FDOT standards and expectations in different Districts, including D2, D5, and D7
- Drive and motivation to be involved in business development efforts and client-facing
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Synchro
- Experience with HCS, SIDRA, VISSIM, ArcGIS, CUBE, and/or TransCAD preferred
- Working knowledge of HCM, MUTCD, AASHTO, and state DOT standards, manuals, and procedures
Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and execute traffic and transportation studies, including:
- Traffic impact analyses
- Traffic forecasting studies
- Intersection and corridor operational studies
- Safety and access management analyses
- Signal timing, parking, and roundabout feasibility studies
- Prepare technical reports, plans, and specifications for transportation projects
- Develop, review, and revise engineering calculations and drawings
- Review plans, technical specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents
- Prepare presentation and communication materials for clients, agencies, and public stakeholders
- Coordinate with clients, agencies, contractors, and internal project teams
- Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff
- Support project scope development, schedules, budgets, and overall project management efforts
