Substation Engineer IV
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Substation Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of high-voltage substation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, proven experience in substation design and construction, and the ability to manage complex projects from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and engineering of high-voltage substations (typically 69kV to 500kV).
- Prepare and review detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines to ensure project requirements are met.
- Perform site assessments and support construction activities including commissioning and testing.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, NESC, NEC) and utility requirements.
- Develop protection and control schemes, including one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and relay settings.
- Conduct technical reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
- Manage budgets, schedules, and deliverables for assigned projects.
- Interface with vendors and contractors for equipment procurement and installation.
- Support proposal development and client presentations as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in substation engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP, or similar.
- Strong understanding of power system analysis, protection, and control.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with utility or EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and integration.
- Knowledge of environmental and permitting processes.
- Experience with renewable energy interconnections or grid modernization projects.
