Transit Lead Planner
We are seeking an experienced Transit Project Lead with 10+ years in transportation planning or engineering to join our multi-modal transportation team. This role involves working on bus-related planning and infrastructure projects, collaborating with traffic engineers, highway engineers, transportation planners, and clients.
Projects may include:
- Bus network redesign and planning
- Bus rapid transit (BRT) initiatives
- Station and facility design
- Alternatives analysis and concept development
- Construction coordination
A passion for improving public transportation systems is highly valued. Occasional travel and meetings outside normal business hours may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and recommend improvements for bus service efficiency
- Evaluate bus operations to reduce overhead costs
- Design bus facilities (maintenance yards, bus stops)
- Lead transportation planning or engineering assignments
- Coordinate multidisciplinary projects (architecture, mechanical, structural)
- Prepare conceptual plans, graphics, and reports
- Lead project and public meetings
- Manage client relations and project financials
- Oversee project scope, schedule, and budget
- Support business development and proposal preparation
Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Professional licensure/certification (PE, AICP preferred)
- Experience with public transportation projects; familiarity with NY State transit authorities and FTA is a plus
- Active involvement in professional organizations
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
