Vice President of Data Center Development - Canada
Location: Montreal, QC (Hybrid: 2 days in office now; 4 days onsite after Sept 1st)
*Compensation in CAD
A rare opportunity to take the reins at one of the most uniquely positioned digital‑infrastructure companies in North America. After years operating at scale in blockchain and bitcoin, this organization now sits on the holy grail of HPC and hyperscale development: proven operational capability, power secured, land secured, investment backing secured, and an expansion platform that outpaces nearly every new entrant to the data center market.
With 8 operating data centers in Québec and ~170 MW of energized capacity, the company is shifting into high gear-and needs a senior development leader ready to drive Canada's next generation of HPC and hyperscale campuses.
If you're looking for a role where your decisions directly shape gigawatt‑scale projects and national‑level growth, this is it.
The Role
As Vice President of Data Center Development - Canada, you will own the full development lifecycle of hyperscale and HPC campuses-from site identification and due diligence to permitting, construction, commissioning, and handover. This is an owner's‑side role where you will lead $100M+ projects at true GW‑scale.
You'll build the strategy, set the pace, and ensure each campus is delivered with precision, speed, and scalability. This is a position for someone who thrives in high‑growth environments and wants to build a development engine capable of national expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end development of hyperscale and HPC data center campuses across Canada.
- Drive site acquisition, environmental and permitting processes, power strategy, and municipal engagement.
- Lead campus planning, conceptual design, budgets, procurement strategies, and schedule management.
- Oversee relationships with utilities, EPCs, contractors, and design partners.
- Build and mentor development and cross‑functional project teams.
- Establish scalable processes and governance structures for a rapidly expanding pipeline.
- Serve as a senior voice in national site strategy, platform growth, and portfolio prioritization.
What You Bring
- Experience delivering large‑scale data centers, industrial campuses, or major powered infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of land, power, permitting, and complex construction.
- A proven ability to deliver $100M+, 100‑MW to GW‑scale projects.
- Executive leadership presence with the ability to move fast, make decisions, and lead teams.
- Familiarity with Canadian permitting and Québec processes is a major asset.
- Ambition, confidence, and the ability to operate in a high‑growth, high‑expectation environment.
Why This Role Stands Out
This is not a company trying to break into the industry-this is a company already operating at scale, with the:
- power (literally),
- land,
- operational track record,
- and investment platform
to grow aggressively into HPC and hyperscale.
Most developers are fighting for capacity. Here, capacity is already secured-the only missing piece is the leader who can turn this platform into a Canadian powerhouse.
This is a chance to put your fingerprint on a national build‑out that will define the next decade of digital infrastructure.
