Vice President of Roadway
Job Title: Vice President / Principal-in-Charge (Design-Build)
Location: Dallas / Fort Worth, TX (preferred)
Position Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the pursuit and delivery of large-scale transportation design-build projects
- Serve as Project Manager during pursuits, including strategy development and client engagement
- Oversee project execution, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards
- Manage contracts, risk, change management, and claims mitigation strategies
- Develop and execute teaming strategies; evaluate and negotiate with partners and consultants
- Support go/no-go decisions and lead proposal and interview efforts
- Monitor project financial performance, including forecasting, staffing, and profitability
- Ensure compliance with quality control and assurance programs
- Lead multidisciplinary teams across multiple locations
- Mentor and develop project staff and emerging leaders
- Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- 15+ years of transportation design experience
- 10+ years of experience managing or leading design-build projects (preferably >$500M)
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams in alternative delivery environments
- Strong expertise in project financial management, contracts, and risk management
Technical Expertise
- Transportation infrastructure design (roadways, drainage, retaining walls)
- Design-build delivery methods and constructability considerations
- DOT standards, permitting processes, and technical compliance
- Coordination across roadway, structural, geotechnical, traffic, and utility disciplines

- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to manage complex projects and competing priorities
- High level of collaboration and adaptability
