Water/Wastewater Project Engineer - Sacramento or San Francisco, CA
We are partnered with a well-established, California-based engineering consulting firm seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to support the delivery of municipal infrastructure projects across Northern California. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative team working on a strong pipeline of local projects with long-standing public sector clients.
This role is ideal for an engineer with a solid technical foundation who wants to stay hands on with design while continuing to develop project delivery and client-facing experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Support and lead the design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects
* Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, plans, and specifications
* Contribute to projects involving pipelines, pump stations, treatment facilities, and storage systems
* Perform hydraulic modeling and system analysis for distribution and collection systems
* Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
* Support project management efforts including tracking scope, schedule, and budget
* Participate in client meetings and assist in maintaining strong municipal relationships
Technical Experience
* Strong experience in water or wastewater system design, including conveyance and/or treatment
* Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and familiarity with hydraulic modeling tools
* Ability to perform engineering calculations and contribute to design decision making
* Experience developing construction documents and supporting projects through delivery
* Understanding of California design standards and permitting processes is preferred
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
* Professional Engineer license in California or actively working toward licensure
* 4+ to 8+ years of relevant experience in water or wastewater engineering
* Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment
