Western US Automation Sales Manager
Role Overview
We are seeking a high‑performing sales professional with deep experience selling complex industrial automation and digital solutions to life sciences, manufacturing, water/wastewater, and critical infrastructure clients. This role is focused on creating new opportunities, leading consultative sales cycles, and driving sustained revenue growth through value‑based selling.
You will work directly with executive leaders, engineers, and operations teams to identify inefficiencies, define improvement strategies, and deliver tailored automation, controls, MES, and advanced analytics solutions. Success in this role requires strong technical fluency, executive presence, and a proven ability to exceed revenue targets.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities for industrial automation, controls, and smart manufacturing projects
- Lead consultative sales engagements by uncovering operational challenges and translating them into measurable business outcomes
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline through proactive prospecting, networking, and relationship development
- Manage the full sales lifecycle from discovery and solution development through contract close and customer expansion
- Collaborate closely with engineering and delivery teams to ensure accurate solution positioning and smooth project handoff
- Maintain accurate forecasts and treat committed opportunities as firm delivery expectations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related discipline (advanced degree preferred)
- 5+ years of experience selling complex industrial automation, controls integration, or digital transformation solutions
- Demonstrated history of exceeding quota, with annual bookings in excess of $3M
- Strong understanding of PLC, DCS, SCADA, MES, OT networking, and modern data‑driven manufacturing concepts
- Ability to communicate effectively with both executive leadership and technical project teams
- Proven ability to work remotely while managing a territory and traveling approximately 40%
- Highly disciplined, self‑directed, and results‑oriented mindset
Preferred Background
- Experience selling solutions into manufacturing, utilities, life sciences, food & beverage, or critical infrastructure
- Exposure to advanced manufacturing concepts such as Unified Namespace, AI‑enabled analytics, or industrial data platforms
- Prior work with controls integrators or automation consulting firms
