Senior Bridge Engineer - Transportation Infrastructure
A well-established engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to lead and support its growing bridge design practice within a regional transportation business unit. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of public infrastructure projects, including those for state departments of transportation and local municipalities.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a collaborative mindset to help drive project success and client satisfaction. Flexible work arrangements, including remote and hybrid options, are available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of transportation structures such as highway bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, and other related infrastructure in accordance with applicable standards and specifications.
- Perform structural analysis and load ratings for existing structures, recommending appropriate rehabilitation or strengthening strategies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage with clients to ensure project goals are met.
- Manage tasks and projects within defined budgets and schedules, with moderate oversight.
- Prepare engineering cost estimates, scopes of work, and technical proposals.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
- Ensure compliance with quality control standards and client requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years in bridge and transportation structure design.
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (P.E.) license with eligibility for reciprocity.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, ability to lead meetings and represent the firm in client interactions, and a proactive, team-oriented approach.
Preferred Attributes:
- Proven experience in managing engineering tasks and mentoring staff.
- Ability to develop scopes, budgets, and schedules for engineering assignments.
- Skilled in interpreting technical and contractual documentation.
