Director of Electrical Engineering
Greater Boston Area | Full-Time Base Salary: $275,000 - $325,000 + Bonus + Long-Term Growth Potential
A rapidly growing owner and operator of mission-critical infrastructure is seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering & Design to lead the organization's electrical engineering strategy, technical standards, and design execution across a portfolio of complex data center projects. This is an opportunity to join a highly visible leadership team and play a key role in supporting next-generation digital infrastructure and high-density computing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering and design efforts for mission-critical infrastructure projects
- Provide technical direction and organizational leadership while maintaining high standards of quality and safety
- Collaborate closely with construction, operations, commissioning, controls, and supply chain teams
- Oversee capacity planning, UPS strategies, emergency power systems, and power system studies
- Manage external engineering consultants, architects, and design partners
- Review equipment selections, technical submittals, and engineering deliverables
- Support projects from design and construction through commissioning and turnover
- Drive departmental performance, budgeting, forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- PE license in Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in mission-critical, colocation, or data center design environments
- Demonstrated success leading technical teams and managing engineering consultants
- Strong expertise in medium and low-voltage power distribution, UPS systems, grounding, and critical electrical infrastructure
- Experience supporting high-density compute environments, including GPU and liquid-cooled deployments
- Proven leadership, project management, budgeting, and vendor management capabilities
