Salary: $115,000 - $165,000 + Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits Package

A leading heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to oversee environmental compliance and stewardship across major infrastructure construction projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. This position plays a critical role in ensuring all projects meet environmental regulations while supporting successful project delivery on complex civil, transportation, utility, marine, and water resource projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental compliance efforts for heavy civil construction projects.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor project-specific environmental plans and permit requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, owners, agencies, and environmental consultants.
  • Manage environmental permitting, reporting, inspections, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Conduct site audits and environmental risk assessments.
  • Provide guidance and training to project teams regarding environmental requirements and best practices.
  • Manage stormwater compliance, erosion and sediment control programs, and water quality monitoring.
  • Maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
  • Support project pursuits and preconstruction efforts by identifying environmental requirements and risks.

Experience Needed

  • 5+ years of environmental compliance or environmental management experience within heavy civil construction.
  • Experience supporting transportation, utility, water/wastewater, marine, earthwork, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong background managing environmental permits and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with stormwater management, erosion control, and water quality regulations.
  • Knowledge of environmental monitoring and mitigation requirements.
  • Experience coordinating with agencies such as the EPA, USACE, WSDOT, local municipalities, and environmental regulatory bodies.
  • Proven ability to work directly with field operations and project management teams.
  • Experience conducting environmental inspections and compliance audits.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, Biology, Ecology, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CESCL, CHMM, CPESC, or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of Washington State environmental permitting requirements.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and reporting abilities.
  • Ability to work both in an office environment and on active construction sites.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel between projects as needed.
