Senior Traffic Engineer
We are partnered with a nationally recognized consulting engineering firm with over 600 employees that is continuing to expand its transportation practice across Tennessee. They are seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to support growth in key markets including Nashville, Murfreesboro, and Chattanooga. This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to lead impactful projects, mentor teams, and play a key role in client engagement, all within a flexible hybrid work environment.
The Senior Traffic Engineer will be responsible for:
- Leading traffic engineering and transportation planning projects from concept through delivery
- Managing project teams, schedules, budgets, and client expectations
- Performing and overseeing traffic studies, including impact analyses, signal warrants, and corridor studies
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams across roadway, planning, and civil engineering groups
- Serving as a primary point of contact for clients, agencies, and stakeholders across Tennessee
- Reviewing and ensuring technical quality, accuracy, and compliance with TDOT and local standards
- Supporting business development efforts, including proposals and client relationship management
The Senior Traffic Engineer should have the following qualifications:
- 8+ years of traffic engineering or transportation planning experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required (or ability to obtain in Tennessee)
- Strong experience with traffic analysis tools such as Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, or similar
- Proven experience managing projects and leading technical teams
- Experience working directly with clients and public agencies
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Familiarity with TDOT standards and local municipal requirements preferred
