Water Resources Technical Manager
We're partnering with a respected national engineering firm in search of a seasoned Water Resources Technical Manager to guide hydrology and hydraulics efforts on a growing portfolio of public infrastructure projects in their Houston office. This is a leadership position focused on stormwater modeling, drainage design, and water resources planning-ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical excellence, project management, and team development.
What You'll Do
Lead a team of engineers delivering hydrology and hydraulics design for stormwater, drainage, and flood mitigation projects
Oversee stormwater modeling using tools such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, XP-SWMM, and InfoWorks
Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and client coordination across municipal and regional public sector clients
Support strategic hiring and mentor junior staff to build a high-performing technical team
Lead QA/QC reviews and ensure technical accuracy across deliverables
Collaborate closely with civil, structural, and environmental teams to integrate drainage solutions across disciplines
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's or Master's in Civil or Environmental Engineering (with a water resources focus preferred)
PE license in Texas (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
10+ years of relevant H&H experience, ideally including supervisory responsibilities
Strong working knowledge of hydrologic/hydraulic modeling tools and Texas-specific regulatory criteria (HCFCD, TxDOT, City of Houston)
Proven experience managing complex drainage or flood mitigation projects from planning through construction
Strong communication skills and a knack for building trust with both clients and team members
