Company Overview:
A nationwide technology systems integrator is seeking an experienced AV Design Engineering Manager. The organization operates multiple regional centers across the U.S. and provides integrated solutions in audio‑visual systems, communications, PoE lighting, and electronic security. The company serves clients in corporate, education, healthcare, and government sectors and offers end‑to‑end services from design to installation and long‑term support.
This role involves leading a design engineering team and supporting both sales and technical groups during pre‑sales design/build proposal efforts.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team responsible for producing design/build proposals, equipment lists, and technical drawings.
- Develop rough‑order‑of‑magnitude project budgets.
- Review and approve system design drawings, construction documents, AV schematics, equipment specifications, and cost proposals.
- Collaborate with AV manufacturers to stay informed about emerging technologies.
- Oversee daily team scheduling and resource assignment.
- Support the growth and professional development of team members.
- Maintain ongoing communication with internal stakeholders, including regional leadership and business development teams.
- Coordinate with project teams to verify system functionality.
- Provide pre‑sales and post‑sales technical support to sales and engineering staff.
- Manage the creation of AV system schematics using software platforms such as AutoCAD and Revit.
- Review architectural plans and incorporate required AV system elements.
Accountability
The AV Design Engineering Manager reports directly to senior engineering leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electronics, engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Professional certifications such as CTS or CTS‑D are advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience in an electronics, engineering, or AV technology environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized, self‑driven, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to lead a diverse technical team effectively.
- Strong planning, organizational, and operational management skills.
- Motivated to achieve goals and manage day‑to‑day responsibilities independently.
