Aviation Engineering Design Manager

LVI are partnered with a key figure in the Civil Aviation world looking for an experienced Aviation Engineering Design Manager to support existing aviation projects, pursue new opportunities, and help grow our aviation engineering group. This is a seller-doer role focused on building and managing a high-performing team, collaborating closely with an established architectural aviation group on nationwide projects, and driving new business across both landside and airside sectors.

This position offers flexibility in location and includes opportunities to lead efforts and support aviation pursuits across the country.

Role Overview:
As the Aviation Engineering Design Manager, you will oversee all aspects of project delivery, including contract management, team leadership, quality assurance, and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide design support and mentor a team to ensure successful delivery of projects involving taxiways, taxilanes, aprons, roadways, stormwater, and utility infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with architecture and engineering leadership to develop goals, growth plans, and implement strategic initiatives forairside andlandside airport projects, including:
    • Commercial and General Aviation airport master planning
    • Passenger terminal redevelopment programs
    • FAA movement area expansions and reconstruction
    • Airfield utility infrastructure assessments
  • Support business development efforts in aviation engineering and collaborative architecture/engineering pursuits.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of aviation engineers for project delivery and engineering support.
  • Develop and maintain key client relationships in commercial service and general aviation.
  • Coordinate with airport authorities, airlines, federal agencies, and other stakeholders, including construction administration/management.
  • Actively participate in industry initiatives and events to maintain visibility and leadership in aviation design, including recruiting qualified personnel.
  • Manage multiple projects with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in aviation civil engineering design and project management.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with willingness to obtain additional state licensures.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars for airport design and construction, including taxiways, taxilanes, aircraft parking aprons, grading/drainage, pavement markings, and federal regulatory processes (e.g., FAA 7460-1 applications, 49 CFR Part 77 analyses).
  • Proficiency or working knowledge of Aviplan, AutoCAD, and Civil3D preferred.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with a focus on meeting individual and strategic goals.
  • Excellent communication, management, and organizational skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
