Business Development
We are seeking a Business Development professional to support growth within the Industrial Controls division. This individual will focus on expanding market presence, identifying new business opportunities, and partnering with internal teams to strengthen sales execution and operational alignment. You will collaborate closely with engineering, marketing, project management, and account management to help advance the group's strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new clients, business opportunities, and emerging markets within the industrial controls sector.
- Provide direction to the marketing team on content strategy-including blogs, email campaigns, social media, video, and other materials-and review performance insights to help refine overall marketing direction.
- Work with supervisors, project managers, engineers, and marketing to ensure messaging and campaigns support the division's growth and brand strategy.
- Review marketing metrics and industry trends to adapt business development initiatives as needed.
- Develop and implement growth strategies aligned with target markets and organizational goals.
- Plan and oversee the division's participation in presentations, industry events, and tradeshows-including budgeting, logistics, booth setup, and event coordination.
- Use CRM tools to track leads, manage interactions, and maintain an accurate pipeline.
- Support all pre‑event planning and post‑event engagement to maximize exposure and lead conversion.
- Document event outcomes, generate post‑event reports, and identify areas for improvement.
- Stay informed about new technologies, market trends, and best practices within industrial automation.
- Build strong relationships with potential clients by understanding their needs and business challenges.
- Generate and qualify leads through events, networking, outreach, and partner relationships.
- Conduct outreach through calls, emails, and digital platforms to connect with prospective customers.
Required Experience
- 3-5+ years in industrial controls or a related technical trade environment.
- Knowledge of Rockwell Automation products preferred.
- Ability to travel to customer sites and project locations, including occasional overnight travel.
- High school diploma required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of automation systems, controls integration, UL 508A panel solutions, and controls‑related opportunities in OEM/manufacturing environments.
- Experience planning and managing all phases of tradeshows or industry events.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Experience in technical sales and customer engagement.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Willingness to expand knowledge across additional business areas.
- Ability to manage schedules, timelines, and customer expectations.
- Comfortable presenting to both internal teams and external clients.
- Experience with job costing, budgeting, or financial management.
- Ability to interpret electrical control and power schematics.
- Understanding of estimating processes and electrical design/engineering estimates.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Working Environment
- Primarily office‑based with periodic visits to job sites or customer facilities.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Field visits may involve noise, outdoor exposure, uneven surfaces, and physical activity such as climbing or kneeling.
