CADD Technician | Albany, NY
My client is looking to bring on a skilled AutoCAD Drafter/Technician to join their CAD team. In this role, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary group of engineers and surveyors, supporting a variety of projects by producing technical drawings, presentations, mapping deliverables, and proposal visuals. There will also be occasional opportunities to participate in field-related activities.
This position is ideal for someone who is highly proficient in Autodesk Civil 3D and interested in expanding their technical skillset by learning Bentley MicroStation and OpenRoads, offering the chance to develop into a versatile, dual-platform CAD professional with company-supported training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineering and surveying teams across multiple disciplines, including civil/site, transportation, structural, traffic, and survey
- Execute advanced drafting and design work using AutoCAD and Civil 3D (experience with MicroStation is advantageous)
- Develop complete contract drawings based on direction and markups from design and survey staff
- Ensure all work aligns with internal CAD standards and company drafting protocols
- Support efforts to improve efficiencies by helping develop and implement CAD automation tools and workflows
- Update and revise drawings in accordance with redline markups
- Produce graphics and visual materials for both project deliverables and marketing purposes
- Generate plan components such as sections and details from 3D models
- Perform basic quality control checks to ensure accuracy and consistency across CAD deliverables
- Assist with occasional field assignments, including site documentation, traffic data collection, and survey support
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, CAD certification, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
(Autodesk Certified Professional in AutoCAD for Design and Drafting is a plus) - 1-2 years of relevant drafting or design experience preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth through participation in internal training programs, seminars, and external learning opportunities (including Autodesk coursework)
