Controls Engineer
  • Lead the design and implementation of facility configurations-including I/O mapping, permissions, hardware specs, and control sequences.

  • Manage service ticket resolutions and ensure timely support across the Control System ecosystem.

  • Collaborate with technical teams to identify, diagnose, and resolve system issues through rigorous QA testing.

  • Verify and correct wiring installations and signal routing; ensure I/O points are accurately labeled.

  • Participate in troubleshooting of electrical panels and field signals.

  • Detect mismatches during testing phases and work with engineering teams to refine control logic.

  • Learn and utilize proprietary control language to create, document, test, and deploy automation routines including:

    • Equipment-level safety responses

    • Finite state machine logic

    • Integrated process controls

  • Analyze system behaviors and recommend adjustments to optimize efficiency and responsiveness.

  • Support the development of advanced scheduling and control techniques.

  • Provide ongoing input and feedback to enhance software and control language features.

  • Conduct system evaluations and advise on necessary maintenance or upgrades.

  • Build strong relationships with customers and share our commitment to their success.

  • Help create training materials for client maintenance crews, covering manual operations and emergency protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in industrial automation

  • Skilled in electrical systems-including troubleshooting enclosures, landing wires, and installing site hardware

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferred)

  • Strong expertise with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and ladder logic programming

  • Familiar with control systems such as Opto-22, Allen Bradley, Andover, AAIM Controls, and M&M

  • Able to problem-solve effectively with a hands-on mindset

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% for onsite installations and support

  • Excellent communication skills for interfacing with facility leaders and internal teams

  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is a plus

  • Comfortable working in industrial environments-including meat processing facilities, wet areas, and noisy surroundings

  • Physically able to climb ladders and navigate facility infrastructure
