A well-established, minority-owned geotechnical and materials testing firm with offices across Texas is seeking a Department Manager to lead its Austin geotechnical operations. With over 250 employees and a strong track record in both public and private sectors, we offer a unique opportunity for experienced engineers to step into a high-impact leadership role with a clear path to executive advancement.

Position Overview

This is a strategic technical leadership role focused on project oversight, team development, and client engagement. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and a passion for mentoring others. For the right person, this role offers a fast track to Managing Principal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Austin geotechnical department
  • Oversee project execution across multiple industries
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, including with public agencies e.g. TxDOT
  • Collaborate with leadership across multiple Texas offices to ensure quality and consistency
  • Mentor junior staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration

Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master's preferred)
  • 6+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, including leadership responsibilities
  • Strong project management and client-facing skills
  • Proven ability to lead teams and drive operational success
