About the Client:
My client is a well-established and rapidly growing General Contractor based in Philadelphia, known for delivering high-quality commercial and institutional construction projects. With a strong pipeline of work and a reputation for excellence, they are expanding their preconstruction team and seeking a skilled Mechanical Estimator to support their continued growth.
Position Overview:
This is a key role within the preconstruction department, responsible for estimating mechanical scopes (HVAC, plumbing, piping) on a wide range of projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed mechanical estimates for commercial and institutional construction projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine scope and pricing.
- Perform quantity take-offs and develop cost breakdowns.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
- Support value engineering efforts and participate in bid reviews and presentations.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical estimating, preferably with a GC or mechanical subcontractor.
- Strong understanding of HVAC and plumbing systems and construction practices.
- Proficiency with estimating software (Quick Pen experience is a plus).
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
