Medium Voltage Electrical Design Engineer (On‑Site - Chicago, IL)
We're partnering with a rapidly growing power distribution equipment manufacturer seeking a Medium Voltage Electrical Design Engineer to join their on‑site engineering team in Addison, IL. This role is ideal for an engineer passionate about MV/LV power systems, switchgear design, and hands‑on product engineering in a fast-paced, manufacturing-focused environment.
What You'll Do
- Lead and contribute to the design of medium voltage power distribution systems and switchgear products.
- Develop and refine electrical designs, schematics, and layouts supporting new equipment configurations.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical design, manufacturing, and applications engineering teams to ensure seamless product development.
- Support product lifecycle activities including design validation, troubleshooting, and engineering change processes.
- Participate in internal reviews and coordinate engineering deliverables through early design to final release.
What We're Looking For
- Electrical engineering background focused on power distribution - MV experience preferred, but strong LV engineers ready to move into MV will be considered.
- Experience with switchgear, power distribution equipment, or related electrical product design.
- Solid grounding in engineering design principles (not construction‑phase consulting only).
- Ability to interpret standards, perform engineering calculations, and produce accurate technical documentation.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross‑functionally in an on‑site environment.
