This role provides the opportunity to lead complex overhead transmission line engineering projects within a collaborative, flexible work environment. The Project Engineering Manager oversees multi‑discipline engineering teams, ensures high‑quality technical deliverables, and supports client relationships and project execution across a diverse portfolio.
The Opportunity
As the Project Engineering Manager for Overhead Transmission Lines, you will:
- Lead multi‑discipline teams of engineers and technicians
- Manage technically diverse, large‑scale design and EPC‑related projects
- Oversee project design quality, budgets, schedules, and deliverables
- Support client communication, proposals, and business development efforts
The Work
You will join a team focused on emerging and fast‑growth infrastructure markets across advanced manufacturing, high‑density computing, and power delivery. The team provides full engineering, procurement, and construction support across areas such as:
- Substations
- Renewables integration
- HVDC / FACTS / STATCOM systems
- Data center power delivery
- Battery energy storage integration
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution
- Prepare complex engineering deliverables for multiple large projects
- Conduct technical research and develop equipment and material recommendations
- Manage data, perform advanced engineering calculations, and ensure technical accuracy
- Lead coordination across multiple engineering disciplines
- Maintain and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality plans
- Serve as the lead engineer of record / responsible charge when required
Client Interface
- Identify client drivers and ensure project alignment
- Address client concerns and communicate solutions to internal teams
- Support pursuit efforts, proposals, and business development activities
- Manage project changes with client oversight and PM collaboration
Technical Leadership
- Lead large engineering teams to meet project milestones
- Provide technical direction for complex overhead transmission line design
- Drive solutions to maintain project performance and mitigate risks
Management Responsibilities
- Review and approve work from junior and mid‑level engineers
- Participate in hiring decisions, performance discussions, and compensation actions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing EPC or design services projects for overhead transmission lines
- Deep knowledge of high‑voltage overhead transmission design, including PLS‑CADD, routing, structural loading, foundation design, and lifecycle project execution
- Strong communication skills and ability to build client relationships
- Advanced understanding of industry standards, design guides, and engineering principles
- Working knowledge of cross‑functional project areas: procurement, permitting, subcontracting, land acquisition, and construction support
- Experience supporting proposals and developing engineering cost estimates
- Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program
- 5+ years of directly relevant engineering experience
- Ability to complete all pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background checks, screenings, etc.)
Certifications
- Professional engineering licensure required or active pursuit expected based on role demands
- Additional licensure may be needed depending on project locations; exceptions handled case‑by‑case
