Project Development Manager - Energy Infrastructure
A privately held U.S.-based energy development company is seeking a driven and experienced professional to support the next generation of reliable and dispatchable power generation projects across the United States. The company develops and operates advanced natural gas and renewable energy facilities and is backed by an international independent power provider.
Position Overview
The Project Development Manager will play a leading role in the management, execution, and advancement of decarbonized greenfield natural gas-fired generation, hydrogen production, and carbon capture projects. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of relevant experience; however, the company is open to strong candidates with varying backgrounds.
This individual must be proactive, analytical, and capable of driving complex energy projects forward on time and within budget.
This role reports to senior leadership within the Development team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead planning and execution of development activities for active U.S. energy projects
- Negotiate key development agreements
- Manage the permitting process, troubleshooting challenges as they arise
- Build and maintain community and stakeholder support
- Develop and maintain relationships with potential project off‑takers; manage related commercial agreements
- Direct external consultants and collaborate closely with internal teams (engineering, finance, energy management/origination, external affairs, legal, asset management)
- Provide regular project updates to management, support budgeting, and ensure internal compliance
Qualifications
- Relevant experience in energy project development, with a strong track record of successful project execution
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in engineering or business
- Ability to work independently and effectively with cross‑functional teams at all organizational levels
- Strong financial and analytical skills, including proficiency with pro formas, NPV/IRR analysis, and P&L concepts
- Understanding of real estate and title‑related matters
- Proven ability to gather, organize, and analyze complex information
- Strong problem‑solving capabilities, from conceptualization to solution development
- Excellent writing, communication, presentation, and organizational skills
- Willingness to travel as needed
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment background and financial credit check
