Quality Control Lead (Projects) - Water/Mining
Quality Control Lead (Projects) - Water Infrastructure / Mining
Location: Western Australia
Type: Full-time
About the Role
We are working with a fast-growing contractor delivering complex water infrastructure projects across mining and industrial environments. Due to expansion plans, the business is looking for a Quality Control Lead who can help lift consistency across project delivery by strengthening inspection discipline, documentation, and handover readiness.
This is a hands-on role working closely with Project Engineers, Site Supervisors, Construction and Commissioning teams to ensure work is executed to specification and accepted first time.
Key Responsibilities
Quality planning & execution
- Implement and maintain project quality plans, ITPs and checklists aligned to contract requirements and client standards.
- Manage inspection hold points / witness points, ensuring inspections occur before work is progressed or concealed.
- Coordinate and complete ITRs / quality records across civil, piping, mechanical, and E&I scopes (depending on project).
Non-conformances & corrective actions
- Raise NCRs early, track corrective actions through to closure and ensure learnings are embedded to prevent recurrence.
- Support root cause analysis on repeat defects and quality escapes.
Documentation, turnover & handover
- Own quality documentation completeness - including redlines, as-builts, test certificates, calibration certificates, vendor documentation, and turnover packs.
- Drive a structured approach to close-out so commissioning and client handover are not delayed by missing records.
Supplier / fabrication quality (where applicable)
- Conduct incoming inspections and quality checks on fabricated items and vendor supplied equipment.
- Review and validate vendor documentation and conformity.
Continuous improvement
- Identify bottlenecks and recurring issues across project teams and introduce simple, repeatable controls to improve first-time quality.
- Support coaching of supervisors and engineers on quality discipline and expected standards.
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated QC experience in water infrastructure, pipelines, mining, oil & gas, heavy industrial, or civil construction environments.
- Strong knowledge of ITPs, inspection records, turnover packs / handover documentation.
- Practical understanding of piping and pressure testing, and strong documentation discipline.
- Comfortable working in high-tempo project environments and influencing delivery teams (not just auditing from the sidelines).
- Strong stakeholder management - able to work with client reps, EPCMs, supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors.
- High attention to detail, but commercially aware
Qualifications / Certifications
- Trade background (piping/mechanical) or engineering background (civil/mech)
- Exposure to relevant standards and project specifications.
- Valid driver's license; ability to travel to site / FIFO as required.
Why This Role
- Opportunity to join a high-growth project delivery business where quality is being strengthened as a key pillar of scale.
- Visible impact: improved delivery outcomes, faster handovers, reduced rework, stronger client confidence.
- Work across major projects with real scope and complexity.
