Company Summary: A leading utility scale solar engineering and development form is looking to grow their team with a Senior Electrical Design Engineer! They have designed over 10GW of projects across the US and have an extensive pipeline with reputable industry partners. The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for creating electrical designs, reviewing drawings, etc. This role is fully remote!

Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical System Design: Develop detailed electrical designs for utility-scale solar PV plants, including single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and equipment layouts.
  • Component Selection: Specify and evaluate electrical components such as transformers, switchgear, inverters, and protection devices.
  • Grid Interconnection: Design and analyze interconnection systems to meet utility requirements and grid codes.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure designs comply with NEC, IEEE, IEC, and local regulatory standards.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare design packages, calculations, and reports for permitting and construction.
  • Coordination: Work closely with civil, structural, and mechanical teams to integrate electrical systems into overall plant design.
  • Quality Assurance: Review vendor drawings and perform design checks to maintain accuracy and reliability.
  • Innovation: Identify opportunities for cost optimization and performance improvements in electrical design.
  • Support Construction: Provide technical support during procurement, installation, and commissioning phases.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of electrical design experience, with at least 3 years in utility-scale solar PV projects.
    • Strong knowledge of power systems, grounding, protection, and SCADA integration.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, ETAP or similar electrical modeling tools.
    • Familiarity with renewable energy codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, IEC).
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Certifications: PE license or ability to obtain is a plus.
