They are now seeking a highly skilled Senior Grid Connection Engineer to join their expanding engineering team and play a key role in shaping the future of clean energy integration.
Role Overview
As a Senior Grid Connection Engineer, you will be responsible for leading technical studies, managing grid connection processes, and ensuring successful integration of renewable energy and energy storage projects into transmission and distribution networks. You will serve as the technical authority on grid-related matters and work closely with internal stakeholders, network service providers, and external partners to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of grid connection applications, including preparation of regulatory submissions and coordination with network service providers.
- Conduct advanced power systems studies such as load flow, fault level analysis, stability studies, PSCAD/EMT modelling, and dynamic simulations.
- Assess grid compliance requirements and develop strategies to achieve regulatory approvals.
- Provide expert technical guidance for project development, design, and commissioning phases.
- Review connection agreements, technical specifications, and grid codes to ensure project alignment.
- Collaborate with EPC teams, OEM vendors, and consultants to resolve grid-related engineering issues.
- Support the optimisation of generator performance standards and control systems (e.g., reactive power, voltage control, frequency response).
- Represent the company in technical discussions, stakeholder meetings, and grid compliance negotiations.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal capability development.
Skills & Experience Required
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering.
- 5-10+ years of experience in grid connection engineering within the renewable energy, utility, or power systems sector.
- Strong technical expertise in power systems modelling tools (e.g., PSS®E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, PSSE, MATLAB/Simulink).
- In-depth understanding of regional grid codes, network operator requirements, and generator performance standards.
- Proven experience managing grid connection processes for large-scale solar, wind, hybrid, or battery energy storage projects.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.
- Experience working with transmission and distribution network service providers is highly preferred.
