Senior MEP Project Manager - Healthcare
Overview
Lead end-to-end delivery of complex healthcare projects, including medical office and hospital developments (renovations and new construction). This role oversees planning through occupancy, ensuring alignment across scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality-often within active, patient-facing environments. This is a fully-remote position, but the candidate must reside in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area or willing to relocate.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Manage healthcare projects from early planning through closeout
- Coordinate stakeholders: ownership, healthcare operators, clinical leadership, design teams, contractors, and authorities
- Maintain project performance across schedule, budget, and quality targets
- Navigate evolving clinical requirements, phasing, and operational constraints
Healthcare-Specific Coordination
- Support compliance with healthcare regulations, life safety, and infection control standards
- Coordinate licensure, inspections, and activation processes
- Manage work in occupied facilities, including phasing, shutdowns, and safety protocols
Preconstruction & Planning
- Support feasibility, due diligence, and budgeting
- Coordinate clinical planning, user groups, and equipment requirements
- Develop early schedules, phasing strategies, and infrastructure planning
- Assist with procurement, bidding, and design coordination
Construction Management
- Oversee contractors, schedules, submittals, and field execution
- Monitor progress, resolve issues, and mitigate risks proactively
- Manage contracts, change orders, and financial tracking
- Ensure safe, compliant, and minimally disruptive construction operations
Closeout & Activation
- Lead turnover, commissioning, and occupancy readiness
- Coordinate training, documentation, and final inspections
- Support project closeout and post-project evaluation
Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor junior team members and support consistent execution standards
- Build and maintain client and partner relationships
- Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiency
General Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar discipline
- 8+ years of project management experience in healthcare or complex construction environments
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
- Familiarity with healthcare codes, regulatory processes, and active facility constraints
- Proficiency with standard project management and business tools
