Senior Transportation Engineer
The Senior Transportation Engineer is a leadership-level position responsible for planning, designing, and managing complex transportation and traffic engineering projects. This role involves overseeing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), traffic signal timing, roadway design reviews, and transportation policy development. The engineer serves as a technical expert and may supervise junior engineers and technical staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct traffic engineering studies and develop traffic signal timing plans.
- Design and manage ITS infrastructure and configurations.
- Review and approve roadway, subdivision, and commercial development plans.
- Prepare and review signing and striping plans.
- Develop and implement transportation policies, standards, and procedures.
- Coordinate with internal departments, consultants, and the public.
- Supervise and mentor engineering and technical staff.
- Respond to traffic-related issues and conduct field inspections.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in Arizona (required).
- At least 5 years of transportation engineering experience, with 2 years in a supervisory role preferred.
- Valid Arizona Class D Driver's License.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in traffic modeling software (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM).
- Knowledge of MUTCD and AASHTO standards.
- Experience with GIS and CAD tools.
- Strong communication and project management skills.
