Structural Engineer
LVI Associates is working on behalf of a well-established structural engineering consultancy in the San Francisco Bay Area to identify a seasoned Structural Engineering Project Manager. This is a key leadership role for a licensed engineer with a strong technical foundation, project delivery experience, and a passion for innovative structural solutions in the built environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage structural engineering projects from concept through construction, including new construction, seismic retrofits, adaptive reuse, and high-performance buildings.
- Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, and client communications across multiple concurrent projects.
- Perform and review structural analysis and design for steel, concrete, timber, and masonry systems using ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, NDS, and CBC codes.
- Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure integrated and constructible designs.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers and drafters; review calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Conduct site visits, construction administration, and respond to RFIs and submittals.
- Support business development efforts, including proposal writing, fee development, and client presentations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- California PE license required; SE license strongly preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in structural engineering, with at least 2 years in a project management role.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, RAM, RISA, SAFE) and AutoCAD/Revit.
- Strong understanding of seismic design principles and performance-based engineering.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with OSHPD, DSA, or other public agency projects.
- Familiarity with LEED, WELL, or sustainable design practices.
- Experience with mass timber, post-tensioned concrete, or modular construction is a plus.
