Position Overview
The Senior Technical Advisor role is designed for individuals with established technical capability, project leadership experience, and the ability to support opportunity development and client engagement. Responsibilities include generating technical content, preparing proposals, assisting in identifying new work, and guiding interactions with clients. Advisors are encouraged to build visibility within the industry and work toward becoming recognized experts in their field.

The position involves leading small teams of engineers or specialists, supporting clients at the departmental or managerial level, and developing solutions that address complex technical or economic challenges within a specific discipline.

Key Responsibilities
* Produce high‑quality technical deliverables efficiently
* Prepare proposals and scopes of work
* Strengthen project leadership and project management capabilities
* Begin building contacts and relationships that may lead to new project opportunities
* Utilize internal resources and tools to support effective project delivery
* Represent the organization's capabilities in customer meetings and discussions
* Build trust with clients and work toward being recognized as a knowledgeable resource in substation‑related work
* Contribute to cross‑team collaboration and company wide initiatives
* Follow internal processes, strategic guidance, and organizational objectives
* Stay current with industry developments and emerging technical topics
* Support other groups by sharing substation‑related knowledge

Required Qualifications

Business Development Expectations
Advisors are expected to gradually participate in identifying opportunities, developing client relationships, and contributing to revenue generation. Over time, individuals typically generate enough billable work to support themselves and may expand their impact by helping support workloads for others. Technically strong advisors may advance even with limited business development involvement, though progression may be slower.

Education and Experience
* Documented technical specialization in a utility‑industry discipline supported by project experience, publications, society involvement, or equivalent credentials
* Approximately eight years of experience with demonstrated success in technical leadership
* Master's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience

Systems and Skills
* Ability to work effectively within a diverse and collaborative environment
* Strong teamwork and communication abilities
* Confidence presenting substation‑related topics to clients

Preferred Qualifications

Education and Credentials
* Professional Engineer license (PE or P.Eng.)

Technical Skills
* Experience in substation physical design
* Knowledge of substation protection and control design
* Understanding of substation engineering management practices
* Experience preparing substation proposals
* Experience in substation project engineering

Location and Work Environment
The organization maintains several office locations across the United States and Canada. A hybrid work model is available, allowing employees to work remotely, in the office, or through a blended approach depending on project and team needs.
