Transportation Engineering Project Manager

A growing, nationally recognized engineering consultant is seeking an experienced Transportation Engineering Project Manager to join their expanding team in Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, or Memphis. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in roadway and highway design, along with proven experience leading transportation infrastructure projects from concept through completion. This role offers the feel of a small, tight‑knit office backed by the resources, stability, and multidisciplinary capabilities of a 600‑person organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage transportation engineering projects from planning through completion while maintaining scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Oversee roadway, highway, and civil design efforts, including horizontal/vertical geometry, drainage, grading, traffic control, and related components.
  • Develop and review engineering plans, specifications, and technical documentation for DOT and municipal clients.
  • Conduct technical evaluations, site reviews, and feasibility assessments to support project planning and design.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including environmental, CEI, and water/wastewater groups.
  • Support pursuit and proposal efforts with a dedicated BIDS team known for a high win rate.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships across public agencies and partnering firms.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth and development of the Nashville office.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (PE preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in transportation or roadway design.
  • Experience delivering DOT or municipal transportation projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of roadway design standards, engineering principles, and construction methodologies.
  • Experience with design‑build or alternative delivery methods is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads, or similar industry software.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
