VP of Engineering

A leading civil engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee a portfolio of five to seven transportation and public works projects. These projects span the full lifecycle from advance planning and preliminary engineering through final design, PS&E development, bid phase support, and construction phase services including engineering oversight and field inspections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate project scopes, conduct site visits as needed, and develop level-of-effort estimates for budgeting and fee proposals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing project status updates, budgets, invoicing, and negotiating scope changes.
  • Lead multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Determine staffing needs and manage internal resources to meet project demands.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to internal teams with varying levels of experience.
  • Prepare and present materials for public engagement, including city council and community meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to construction-related inquiries, including RFIs, change orders, and material approvals.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of design deliverables to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Perform site visits to monitor construction progress and confirm adherence to design intent.
  • Participate in project meetings throughout all phases, including pre-bid, construction, and close-out.
  • Support business development activities such as proposal preparation, client meetings, and industry events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas required.
  • PMP certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering design and project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong background in site development, roadway design, drainage, water/wastewater utilities, and traffic control plans.
  • Experience in hydraulics and hydrology is a plus.
  • Proficiency in design and project management software such as Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, ProjectWise, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Bluebeam Revu.
