A respected, employee-owned engineering firm is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Engineer to join its Portland-based team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on impactful municipal wastewater projects throughout the Pacific Northwest, with a strong focus on mentorship, technical growth, and long-term career advancement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan, fund, and design municipal wastewater systems.
  • Design improvements for lift stations, treatment facilities, and related infrastructure, including preparation of drawings and specifications.
  • Develop comprehensive wastewater planning documents such as Facility Plans, Collection System Plans, and Industrial Pretreatment Plans.
  • Assist in defining project scopes, budgets, schedules, and delivery strategies.
  • Provide technical support during construction, including field visits and coordination with utilities and subconsultants.
  • Engage directly with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and participate in public meetings.
  • Help ensure projects meet both client expectations and company financial goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in wastewater system design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Oregon or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience with design documentation and technical specifications for wastewater infrastructure.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong public speaking and client communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with municipal infrastructure funding programs.
  • Experience writing planning documents, scopes of work, and task orders.
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and PDF editing tools.
  • Experience coordinating with subconsultants and managing project schedules.
  • A collaborative mindset and a desire to build lasting professional relationships.
