Responsibilities:
- Electrical Design & Analysis: Performs comprehensive medium voltage (up to 35 kV) design including load flow, short circuit, grounding, arc flash, harmonics, and fiber optic loss analyses.
- Technical Calculations: Conducts detailed studies such as underground cable thermal analysis, electrical loss, reactive power, and safety grounding (touch and step potential).
- Documentation & Specifications: Develops technical specifications, bills of materials, installation instructions, and construction drawing details for electrical systems.
- Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Collaborates with civil, structural, geotechnical, and environmental teams to ensure integrated and constructable designs.
- Client & Project Engagement: Participates in client meetings, identifies key client drivers, and ensures high-quality, standardized work across multiple fast-paced projects.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in medium voltage collection system design for renewable energy or underground power distribution, with strong knowledge of wind turbine generator systems and design trends.
- Skilled in Cymcap for underground thermal analysis and proficient in power system analysis tools like ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or similar.
- Familiar with grounding analysis tools such as WinIGS or CDEGS; working knowledge of AutoCAD for design tasks.
- Strong understanding of the NEC and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
