A nationally recognized architecture, planning, and interior design firm with offices across the Western and Southern U.S. is seeking a dynamic Associate Principal to join its leadership team. This role is ideal for a licensed architect with a strong background in civic projects-such as government buildings, public safety facilities, libraries, and community centers-who is passionate about shaping public spaces that serve and inspire.
Role Overview
The Associate Principal will lead multidisciplinary teams through all phases of design and delivery, ensuring that civic projects meet client goals, regulatory requirements, and community expectations. This position requires strategic oversight of project scope, schedule, and budget, as well as active engagement with clients, consultants, and stakeholders. The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor, a collaborative leader, and a champion of design excellence and public impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide design leadership and technical guidance across all project phases, from concept through construction.
- Manage project teams and coordinate with consultants to ensure timely, budget-conscious delivery.
- Foster strong relationships with public sector clients and community stakeholders, advocating for thoughtful, inclusive design.
- Represent the firm at civic and industry events, contributing to business development and thought leadership.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and standards, with a deep understanding of civic project requirements.
- Collaborate with firm leadership to align project goals with broader strategic objectives.
- Support quality assurance and control processes, maintaining high standards of design and documentation.
- Contribute to financial planning, including fee proposals, invoicing, and revenue forecasting.
- If licensed, serve as Architect of Record and maintain professional licensure.
Qualifications
- Licensed Architect in Nevada (required); licensure in Texas or California is a plus.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience, with a strong portfolio of civic work.
- Expertise in public architecture, including knowledge of funding mechanisms, bond programs, and community engagement.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal building codes and approval processes.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead diverse teams.
- Strong communication skills, including public speaking and client presentations.
- Experience in marketing, client development, and proposal writing.
- Willingness to travel as needed to support regional projects and client relationships.
