Building Automation Engineer (Remote)
Position Overview
The Building Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, commissioning, and maintaining building automation systems (BAS) to optimize energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and operational reliability. This role involves working with HVAC, lighting, security, and other integrated systems within commercial, industrial, or data center environments.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Engineering
- Develop BAS designs, including control sequences, wiring diagrams, and system architecture.
- Select appropriate hardware, sensors, and controllers based on project requirements.
Programming & Commissioning
- Program BAS controllers and supervisory systems (e.g., Tridium Niagara, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric).
- Perform system integration with HVAC, lighting, and other building systems.
- Conduct functional testing and validation of control sequences.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve BAS issues, including hardware, software, and network problems.
- Implement system upgrades and patches to maintain performance and security.
Energy Optimization & Analytics
- Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for energy savings.
- Utilize data analytics tools to improve operational efficiency and sustainability.
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare technical documentation, including as-built drawings and O&M manuals.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, building codes, and cybersecurity best practices.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related field.
- Experience:
- 3+ years in BAS design, programming, and commissioning.
- Familiarity with protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and controls.
- Proficiency in BAS software platforms (e.g., Tridium Niagara, Siemens Desigo, Johnson Controls Metasys).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
