Civil Engineer
Position Overview
We're looking for a Mid-Level Civil Engineer with a strong background in water and wastewater systems design to join a multidisciplinary team focused on sustainable infrastructure solutions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in hands-on design work and is passionate about improving water quality and resource management through practical engineering.
You'll be involved in the design and delivery of projects that support environmental sustainability and regulatory compliance, with a particular emphasis on designing water infrastructure, not just modeling it. Key Responsibilities
- Develop engineering designs ranging from basic to complex, including site layout, grading, drainage, hydraulics/hydrology, water distribution and collection systems, stormwater infrastructure and treatment, and occasional structural elements.
- Ensure designs meet federal, state, and local regulations and align with internal standards and best practices.
- Conduct site reviews and update design requirements based on location-specific conditions.
- Contribute to technical knowledge development through white papers, documentation, and journal submissions.
- Support proposal development in collaboration with business development teams, ensuring technical accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Engage with clients to understand current and future design needs; attend industry events to represent the team's capabilities.
- Provide mentor-ship and technical guidance to junior engineers; may oversee their work on project tasks.
- Travel may be required (approximately 10%) based on project needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on designing water and wastewater systems.
- Strong preference for candidates with hands-on design experience over modeling-only backgrounds.
- Proficiency in CAD (3D/4D), Microsoft Office tools, and engineering design principles.
- Excellent communication skills and a solid understanding of regulatory frameworks.
