A well‑established heavy civil contractor in the Denver metro area is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects. This is a key role for a hands‑on leader who thrives managing crews, driving production, and delivering high‑quality work in a fast‑paced environment.
Position Overview
The Superintendent will oversee day‑to‑day field operations on projects including transportation, water/wastewater systems, earthwork, and underground utilities. You'll be responsible for coordinating crews, managing schedules, and ensuring work is executed safely, on time, and to spec.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead field operations on heavy civil construction projects from start through completion
- Supervise crews, foremen, and subcontractors across active job sites
- Develop and manage project schedules, sequencing, and daily work plans
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and owners
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee earthwork, grading, utilities installation, and structural components
- Monitor productivity, track progress, and adjust plans as needed
- Resolve field issues and maintain strong jobsite communication
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork
Required Experience
- 5-10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction as a Superintendent or Foreman
- Strong background with a mix of:
- Transportation / roadway / DOT projects
- Water & wastewater infrastructure
- Earthwork and mass grading
- Underground utilities (water, sewer, storm)
- Proven ability to manage crews and multiple scopes simultaneously
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, means & methods
- Effective leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
