Job Title: Automation Engineer
Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a Fortune 500 company at the leading edge of its industry, specializing in steel, construction reinforcement, and ground stabilization. The Automation Engineer will play a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting electrical and automation systems in a fast-paced industrial environment.
What You'll Do:
- Design, size, and safely implement low and medium voltage power systems
- Ensure installations comply with NEC, NFPA, and other applicable codes
- Lead the design, construction, commissioning, and startup of capital projects
- Oversee system upgrades in power generation, distribution, and electrical machinery
- Collaborate with engineers and operations teams to integrate and update technologies
- Maintain and troubleshoot VFDs, PLCs, instrumentation, and process computers
- Create and revise technical documentation, including manuals, schematics, and logs
- Provide technical support to maintenance and production personnel
- Develop and maintain electrical drawings and schematics
- Manage large-scale capital projects and coordinate with external vendors
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2016 or later)
- Strong technical writing skills for documentation and manuals
- Experience with Siemens PLCs, including upgrades from S7-300 to S7-1500
- Programming experience with Simatic Manager and TIA Portal (V15.1 to V18)
- Familiarity with industrial manufacturing or process industries
- Ability to manage projects within scope and budget
- Strong mechanical understanding is preferred
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (BSEE or BSME required)
