County Surveyor- Part/Full Time
County Surveyor - Contract Role (Confidential County & Regional Support)
A California county is seeking an experienced Contract County Surveyor to provide expert map and document review services, along with strategic consultation for its Public Works Department. This role involves professional oversight and advisory responsibilities in alignment with the California Subdivision Map Act, the Professional Land Surveyor's Act, and applicable local ordinances.
The selected candidate will be expected to report in person to the County's Public Works Department located on a periodic basis, which may be weekly or monthly, depending on workload and County expectations. Flexibility in scheduling is available.
In addition to supporting this confidential county, the individual may also serve as another Acting County Surveyor and assist with client growth initiatives related to surveying services across the Fresno region, surrounding counties, and beyond.
This role is open to both part-time and full-time candidates. If hired full-time, the remainder of the schedule can be supplemented with additional survey work from other city and county clients across California, ensuring a robust and varied workload.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license.
- Ideally 10 years+ of progressive experience in professional land surveying.
- Proven expertise in subdivision mapping (major and minor) and subdivision processes.
- Strong background in the preparation and review of:
- Legal descriptions
- Lot line adjustments and mergers
- Right-of-way engineering
- Easements
- Records of Survey
- Corner Records
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience serving as a City or County Surveyor is highly desirable.
Compensation
- Full-time salary range: $120,000 - $150,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
