Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Land Development to lead our Florida-based land development operations, reporting to our national leadership team headquartered outside the state. This role is ideal for a civil engineering professional with deep expertise in site development, infrastructure design, permitting, and project delivery. You will oversee the planning, design, and execution of land development projects across Florida, ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership

    • Develop and implement regional land development strategies aligned with national goals and local market needs.
    • Identify and evaluate new project opportunities, including residential, commercial, and municipal developments.
  • Technical Oversight

    • Lead engineering design and review for site grading, stormwater management, utilities, roadways, and other infrastructure components.
    • Ensure compliance with Florida-specific regulations, including FDEP, SWFWMD, and local zoning codes.
  • Project Management

    • Oversee the full lifecycle of land development projects-from feasibility and permitting to construction and closeout.
    • Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Regulatory & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Build and maintain relationships with local governments, permitting agencies, and community stakeholders.
    • Represent the firm in public hearings, technical meetings, and client presentations.
  • Team Leadership

    • Mentor and lead a team of engineers, project managers, and technical staff in the Florida region.
    • Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Financial & Risk Management

    • Prepare and manage project budgets, schedules, and risk assessments.
    • Support business development efforts, including proposal writing and client engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master's or PE license preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in land development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in delivering infrastructure and site development projects in Florida or the Southeast U.S.
  • Strong knowledge of Florida land use regulations, permitting processes, and environmental standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and client management skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, and project management tools.
