About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a passion for designing high-performance building systems to join a collaborative and community-focused team in our Chicago office. This hybrid role offers the flexibility of remote work while staying connected to a vibrant, multidisciplinary studio environment.
You'll work on a wide range of projects-from education and healthcare to commercial and civic spaces-helping shape environments that are sustainable, efficient, and people-centered.
Key Responsibilities
- Design HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for new construction and renovation projects.
- Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and system sizing.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and electrical teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Prepare construction documents, specifications, and reports.
- Conduct site visits and field investigations.
- Support project management and client coordination efforts.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design for buildings.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and mechanical design software (e.g., Trane Trace, HAP).
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, IECC, IMC).
- PE license preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
